Ocimum basilicum. An aromatic herb with a sweet, spicy flavor and hints of anise, ideal for Asian and Thai cuisine. Plants are compact, reaching about 12-18", and produce purple stems with vibrant green leaves and edible purple flowers. Perfect for containers or garden beds.

Sow seeds indoors 6-8 weeks before last spring frost. Plant seeds ¼" deep. Keep soil moist and warm: seeds will emerge in 7-10 days. Transplant to garden after danger of last frost has passed. Be sure to harden off before planting in the garden. When transplanting, allow for 12" between plants.
